Major General Edward Louis Spears. Born 1886 he joined the 8th Hussars in 1906 and served in India. In 1915 he won the Military Cross being wounded four times. He became friends with Winston Churchill. Churchill admired his courage and ability. Spears retired from the army in 1920 and after a failed business venture he went into politics under Churchill. Towards the end of Spears career he served in Syria, which is where he used the Field Chair that we own. Our research shows that the chair was part of the kit that was issued to Senior British Officers stationed in the field. We have made a replica of Major General Spears Officers Field Chair. It has given much pleasure to customers and has been exported all over the world.
